At the heart of pathology is the care of the patient. The pathology laboratory must produce accurate and reliable results quickly in response to their colleagues' requests. The modern pathology laboratory is a complex operation that relies on the skills and teamwork of many people to ensure that each patient and doctor receives the best service possible.

The pathologists, with their blend of medical training and specialised training in the science and discipline of pathology supervise the laboratory investigations as well as consulting with the patient's doctor. The modern pathology laboratory also requires the skills of highly trained professional scientists and technicians, as well as various equally skilled support staff to ensure that investigations are performed efficiently and accurately.

Any pathology investigation starts with one or more specimens obtained from the patient. Doctors may collect some specimens, the laboratory can collect others. Pathology laboratories can examine a wide range of specimens including blood, urine and tissue specimens.

Once the specimen has arrived in the laboratory, depending on the tests requested, various expert departments might be involved in the investigation. Some tests are simple and can be performed rapidly, more complex tests can take days. Some tests can only be performed by highly specialised laboratories and the specimens may need to be sent interstate or even internationally to the appropriate laboratory.

Once the tests are completed and checked for accuracy, a report is sent to the patient's doctor.

NABL Accreditation :

We are happy to inform that our lab has got the prestigious NABL Accreditation from the Govt. of India. This accreditation is given on the basis of participation in international quality control programmes, technical evaluation and latest ISO guidelines. The validity of reports is now practically world over as this Board is ffiliated to all major International Bodies.

Accreditation is a formal recognition of the technical competence of a lab including quality system management based on third party assessment, following latest national and international guidelines.

Infertility Investigations :

The laboratory is considered as one of the biggest referral labs for infertility investigations like Semen Analysis, Anti-sperm Antibody tests, Sperm function test, Post Coital Test, etc.The lab gets referrals from all the leading IVF centres in the city of Mumbai.It also performs highest number of semen analysis tests and sperm morphology examinations in the country.

Histopathology Investigations :

The laboratory is a leading referral centre for biopsy examinations and Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) tests. This work is personally done by Dr. Avinash A. Phadke who has extensive experience in cancer histopathology. The laboratory examines more than 7000 histopathology specimens per year.

Haematology Tests :

The laboratory is fully equipped with a fully automated, five-part differential analyzer which can accurately detect 26 blood parameters in less than a minute.It is useful in the diagnosis of haematological conditions like anemias, leukemias, etc.

Biochemistry Tests :

The laboratory is equipped with two fully automated, random access biochemistry analyzers which can carry out various investigations like Lipid Profiles, Kidney Function Tests, Liver Function Tests, Cardiac Profiles, etc.

Immunology And Specialised Investigations :

The laboratory is fully equipped with various state-of-the-art equipments for carrying out special investigations like Hormone tests, Cancer Markers, Drug Assays, Hepatitis Markers and other specialized investigations. The samples for these tests are received from all across the country as well as major leading hospitals in the city. The laboratory performs more than 1200 investigations per day.

Microbiology :

For the first time in Mumbai, our laboratory introduced a Fully Automated BacT/ALERT 3D System capable of continuous monitoring of growth (every 10 mins) of Mycobacteria, Aerobic Bacteria, Anaerobic Bacteria and Fungi in culture bottles.

Blood and Body Fluid Cultures :

Blood cultured by the BacT/Alert 3D leads to erly detection of pathogens (>89% within 24 hrs. & 97% within 48 hrs.) especially in cases of septicaemia, enteric fevers, bacterial endocarditis and other pyrexias of bacterial origin.

Mycobacterial Cultures :

	Mycobacterial Growth is generally observed within a week in case of smear (1+) positive.
	Speciation into Mycobacterium Tuberculosis complex and Mycobacteria other than Tuberculosis takes an additional 3 days.
	Susceptibility testing to primary line of Anti-Tuberculosis drugs vizl Streptomycin, Isoniazid, Rifampicin, Ethambutol and Pyrizinamide and secondary line of drugs viz Kanamycin, Para-amino salicylic acid, Cycloserine, Ethionamide Capreomycin, etc. requires 5-10 days.
